Pilot 1.4 - Anthem. I am the principal investigator of Pilot 1.4 project: “Timely genomic diagnosis for children with rare diseases toward precision medicines.” The project is part of the Anthem initiative, “Data-driven technologies and processes for the next generation proximity healthcare,” funded by the Italian Ministry of University and Research (MIUR) under the National Plan for Complementary Investments to the PNRR (PNC0000003). The Pilot 1.4 project aims to develop AI-based systems for managing genetic data and integrating them with traditional diagnostic methods. The partners involved in the project include the University of Bergamo, ASST Papa Giovanni XXIII Hospital, and the Mario Negri Institute for Pharmacological Research. |
> 2020 - 2022 |
WATCHMAN - Workload-reduction mAchine vision-based TeChnology Hub for MANufacturing. The project aims to develop a hub of skills and experimentation on the application of Artificial Intelligence and Machine Vision techniques in manufacturing. Numerous industrial and research partners are involved in the project for a total duration of 30 months and a total investment of over 6 million euros. |
> 2017 - 2018 |
ISTAT - Italian National Institute of Statistics. This was a successfully four-months proof-of-concept carried out in collaboration with the ISTAT for demonstrating the effectiveness of the semantic technologies for data management and data quality tasks. I led the OBDA Systems team in all the stages of the project. I participated in developing the ontology, in designing the data source used for the experimentation in collaboration with the ISTAT experts, and in specifying the mapping layer. |
> 2016 - 2017 |
ACI - Automobile Club d'Italia. This is a joint project with ACI Informatica and OKKAM srl. The project aims to develop an integrated information management system of the Italian Public Register of Motor Vehicles (PRA), by exploiting semantic technologies. The approach adopted in the project is based on the Ontology-based Data Management paradigm. In the project, I participated in the development of the ontology, in analyzing the data sources, and in specifying the SQL queries used to link the database to the ontology (mapping development). |
> 2012 - 2016 |
Optique Project - Scalable End-user Access to Big Data. Optique is a project financed by the Seventh Framework Program (FP7) of the European Commission under Grant Agreement 318338. The aim of the project is to bring about a paradigm shift for data access by promoting the use of OBDM and advancing its current state-of-the-art by integrating streaming sources and exploiting massive parallelism for scalability far beyond traditional RDBMSs, thus reducing the turnaround time for information requests to minutes rather than days. In the project, I participated in all the management and research activities concerning the Sapienza team, as well as the design and implementation of the ontological model of the Norwegian Oil Wells use-case used in the project. |
> 2014 |
Bloomberg L. P. - New York, USA. The objective of the project is to explore the use of the Ontology-Based Data Management technology as a means of supporting semantic integration and intelligent querying of that data. In this project, the focus was on modeling intercontinental gas and oil shipping by means of an OWL ontology linked to the company data sources through the OBDM paradigm. I was involved in all stages of the project, beginning with the development of the ontology, the data source analysis, and, finally, in specifying the mapping. |
> 2011 - 2014 |
TELECOM - Telecom Italia. This project aims to develop an ontological model of the Communication Network of Telecom Italia (now TIM) and experimenting OBDM for accessing data in this domain. I was Project Manager for the Sapienza team and participated in and coordinated the following activities: knowledge gathering over the domain of interest, ontology development, data source analysis, and mapping development. |
> 2011 - 2012 |
MEF - Italian Department of Treasury (Ministero dell'Economia e Delle Finanze). This was a pilot project that aimed to experiment the Mastro System for Ontology-based Data Management in the scope of the domain of the Public Debt. In the project, I was involved in knowledge gathering over the domain of interest, ontology development, data source analysis, and mapping development. |
> 2010 - 2013 |
ACSI (Artifact-Centric Service Interoperation). ACSI was an EU STREP Project, funded by the European Union 7th Framework Programme Objective 1.2 "Internet of Services, Software, and Virtualisation" (FP7-ICT-2009-5-Objective 1.2). The aim of the project was to extend the state-of-the-art verification and synthesis techniques to incorporate data along with processes, and to develop the next generation of process mining research by generalizing it to handle data along with processes. In the project, I collaborated in developing the use-case ontology and the OBDM system used in the project. |
> 2008 - 2012 |
MPS-AOG - Monte dei Paschi di Siena in collaboration with IBM - "Analisi Operativa di Gruppo" Project. This project aimed to model the whole core-banking domain of the Monte dei Paschi di Siena Bank by means of an OWL ontology and to experiment the OBDM paradigm in this context. In the project, I participated in the ontology development, in the data source analysis, and in developing the mapping layer. |
