Rationale/ Starting with an overview on the impact of the Internet on business interactions, I went in depth with an analysis of the subset of the semantics of communication that can be captured with a computational model when software agent research was at its peak in popularity. With the explosion of Web 2.0, it has become clear that human users are still to play a fundamental role in the Internet, and, hence, human factors must be taken into account in any model of interaction that aims at having some resemblance with the real world. The empirical aspects of such endeavor call for a much greater attention on the experimental side of computer science, to analyze the foundational characters that define it as a scientific discipline. |
